Steven A. Hunter
The Steven A. Hunter Hope Fund was established by his parents, brother, and other community members who knew and loved Steven. The fund’s primary purpose is to provide financial assistance to students at Portsmouth High School needing help with school related expenses like school or arts supplies, activity fees, or college exam fees.
Steven was a 2003 graduate of Portsmouth High School (PHS) where he was involved in almost every facet of student life. He was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated in the top ten percent of his class. Steven achieved numerous academic and sporting awards and was a class officer all four years of high school. Steven was well remembered by all as the PHS mascot “Captain Trojan.â€
Steven attended Milligan College, a four-year Christian liberal arts college in Northeast Tennessee. At Milligan, Steven majored in history, and was pursuing a minor in legal studies. He had aspirations of one day becoming an attorney. Steven was a member of the Milligan tennis team, a good student, an avid outdoorsman and a fly-fisherman.
Steven was a devoted young Christian man and will be missed by all who knew him. He was extremely passionate about his beliefs, including the premise that we are responsible to help those in need. Steven’s example has inspired all who knew him and loved him to undertake this responsibility. This fund will commemorate Steven’s life and his strong convictions of helping those in need.
