Grady and Ollie Battle
Gift of a Lifetime
The Grady and Ollie Battle Memorial Scholarship Fund is a designed fund, which provides scholarships to local students to attend a college or trade school beyond the high school level.
The Battle Fund was established by their seven children; Stephen Battle, Johnson Battle, Carol Easley, Kathleen Battle, Sharon Patterson, Lela Perry and Grady Battle as a tribute to their parents.
"Our parents were very family-oriented and loved being at home with their children and grandchildren. We have chosen to memorialize them and their love of family by establishing this scholarship fund for the youth of our area," said Stephen Battle.
Mr. Battle, a native of Alabama, retired from the Detroit Steel Corporation. He was active in the Masonic Lodge. Mrs. Battle was a native of West Portsmouth and a homemaker. Mr. and Mrs. Battle were very active in the Allen Chapel AME Church.
