Donor Legacies
Educational Service
Gift of a Lifetime
The South Central Ohio Educational Service Center (SCOESC) established the Scioto County Educational Service Fund in May of 2000. It is a component fund of the Scioto Foundation and its purpose is to provide an endowment for educational related activities that benefit the students and staff of the Scioto County, Ohio public schools.
The Scioto County Educational Service Fund will offer opportunities for the community to reinvest in its school systems by:
- Ensuring that students have opportunities for unique learning experiences.
- Encouraging and supporting staff in developing innovative programs that would not be available through traditional funding sources.
- Enabling students to achieve postsecondary education through scholarships.
- Becoming a partner with the Scioto County public schools.
The Scioto County Educational Service Fund was created to accept both unrestricted and restricted contributions. Unrestricted gifts to the fund will be used to grant annual awards for such activities as the enrichment of curriculum and program development. Donors may also designate their monetary support. Examples of restricted funds include scholarships and general endowments. A donor may create an endowment to support his or her favorite educational related activities in areas such as arts and culture, sports, and academics.
According to George Lawson, then Superintendent of the South Central Ohio Educational Service Center, "We at the SCOESC are very happy about the establishment of the new Scioto County Educational Service Fund. We want to thank the Scioto Foundation for its past generosity and support through its grants program and we look forward to our new evolving partnership. We hope businesses and the community will support us in providing new and innovative educational opportunities for our children."
