The Minford Class of 1944 Memorial Scholarship began in 1979 and in 2001 was endowed at the Scioto Foundation. During the 35th anniversary meeting of the Minford Class of ’44, those in attendance decided to create a memorial scholarship to honor their classmates. In 1944, 34 seniors graduated from Minford High School. In 2001, 24 members survive, along with two teachers Mr. Jacob Frowine and Mrs. Katherine Rase Harper.
James Scott, Evelyn Mowery, Jane Morrison, Anna Lee Johnson, Ruth Swords, and Leonard Niner, a committee of class officers and members, are responsible for the success of the scholarship fund. Since 1980, this committee has selected a scholarship winner from a field of applicants. More than 20 students have received this scholarship award.
