Donor Legacies

Gift of a Lifetime
Community Partners of Shawnee Mental Health Center, Inc.

Community Partners is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with behavioral health care needs by raising and granting funds to support the communities of Adams, Lawrence and Scioto Counties. It is a non-profit organization, incorporated in Decembe, 2001, to serve the residents in the aforementioned counties who struggle to cope with the effects and stigma associated with severe mental illness. The intent of the organization is to help fund needed goods and services for mentally ill adults and children in Adams, Lawrence, and Scioto Counties by providing funds to Shawnee Mental Health Center, Inc. so that they can fulfill their mission.

Currently the Community Partners have an eight member volunteer Board of Directors and no paid staff. The board is responsible for raising funds and distributing them to ensure that the behavioral health needs of the residents are better met.

Cynthia Holstein, Acting President of the Board of Directors, expressed, “We are excited about being involved with the Scioto Foundation because they have the expertise we were looking for in the areas of investment and planned giving. Our decision to create this fund was determined, in part, by the many services the Foundation provides, such as training sessions and one-on-one consultation. The Scioto Foundation has an established history of donor trust that was very appealing to us.”

“We know that by partnering with the Scioto Foundation that we will be in a better position to impact the quality of life of people with mental illness for generations to come,” Holstein continued.

The Community Partners hope this fund will grow from year to year and be available years after the originators are gone. Those contributing to this fund can continue to help the mental health center better meet the needs of those they serve and our communities for years to come.
